To improve product consistency, strengthen competitive advantages, and enhance service responsiveness in export vehicles, Shacman has conducted comprehensive analysis on two-year market data of component utilization and top 500 failure rate statistics. This research identified 29 critical component categories (detailed in Table 1) for brand standardization using suppliers with lowest failure rates. Premium brands including Fleetguard air filters, WABCO valves & dryers, Eaton clutches, and VOSS connectors have been prioritized.
Among these components, 22 categories are regular wear parts while 7 are critical performance components, covering 879 part numbers in total. Each vehicle assembly requires at least 50 of these components, with 642 Shacman spare part numbers from exclusive suppliers. The remaining 237 parts from multiple suppliers present consistency challenges, addressed through three key measures:
- Design Phase Optimization:
- Mandatory selection from Shacman "Export Vehicle Qualified Supplier List"
- Pipeline design upgrades for 24 mainstream export models
- Climate-adaptive solutions using HellermannTyton cable ties
- Assembly Standardization:
- Implemented standardized wiring harness fixation
- Brand-standardized connection interfaces
- Configuration Management:
- Sales teams must maintain identical configurations for repeat customers
- Order contracts to specify "Configuration consistent with CK contract number"
This systematic approach enhances product reliability, simplifies customer spare parts management, and requires cross-departmental collaboration to maintain configuration continuity across production batches.
