How SHACMAN Team Customize Truck Proposal for Clients

A truck is made up of hundreds of thousands of parts, and the birth of a heavy duty truck requires hundreds of production processes. Trucks are not standard products like mobile phones and headphones. Whether you buy them in China or the United States, no matter which store you buy them in, the functions of the same phone model are the same. In the past experience, we tend to provide customers with customized truck solutions, rather than just quoting a price to customers without knowing their needs.

A customer bought a truck from a dealer and complained that the Shacman original tires were of poor quality and can not be standard long. After careful questioning, we learned that the trucks were generally equipped with 12.00R24 tires in desert areas, but the dealer was not aware of the actual situation and the trucks were equipped with standard 12.00R20 tires.

Most clients undersand the truck at the application side. They  have a feeling on what trucks performance they need to achieve. But they can hardly descrip the truck specification accurately. As the manufacturer, we get used to clarify the trucks with specific datas. The truck proposal, is purposing on translating the application demanding into manufacturing language.  So sometimes, we need to know some very important details, so that we can provide a comprehensive truck solution to the clients. For example:

  1.  The country where the truck will be exported to. --- Sometimes, the truck destination country is not the client country. This information helps us decide the cab position, engine emissions, local laws and regulations, whether certification is required, etc.
  2. The items the truck will carry.   ---This information helps us determine the cargo type, material, thickness, etc.
  3. The expected load. --- This helps us to decide the horsepower size of the truck, the size of the cargo, etc.

Other information can be mentioned as well, such as road conditions (to determine the tyre pattern and type, rear axle speed ratio, etc.), transportation distance (to determine the cab sleep bed or not), use frequency to determine the number of accessories), budget and so on. The more information the customer provides, the more accurate the solution we provide.

After initially providing the customer with a solution, our R&D team will have an importation evaluation meetings, to review the propsal at 3 sides.

1) Whether the specifications of this solution can fully meet the customer's usage needs;
2) Whether the specifications of this solution conflict with the mainstream configuration of the market;
3) Whether the specifications of this solution and after-sales accessories are easy to obtain

The order then will enter the production stage only after the R&D department has reviewed it and it has been approved by the customer.
